Privacy policy.
Last updated: July 8, 2026
This policy explains what Rafter (“Rafter”, “we”, “us”) collects on raftercost.com (the “Site”), how we use it, and the choices you have. By using the Site you agree to this policy and to the Terms of use (including their disclaimers, limitation of liability, and arbitration clause, which apply equally to privacy-related disputes to the fullest extent permitted by law).
1. Information we collect
Information you give us:
- Quote requests — project type, zip code, timeline, name, email, and an optional phone number. Submitting a quote request is entirely voluntary.
- Newsletter signup — your email address.
- Contact messages — your name, email, and message.
Information collected automatically:
- Usage and device data — pages viewed, approximate region, browser and device type, referrer, and interaction data. Collected via cookies and similar technologies, subject to your consent choices (section 5).
2. How we use information
We use information for any lawful business purpose, including to:
- Match your quote request with up to 3 independent professionals — the service you asked for;
- Send you the newsletter or reply to your messages;
- Operate, secure, analyze, improve, and develop the Site, its tools, and content;
- Fund the Site through advertising and affiliate programs, subject to your consent choices;
- Create and use aggregated or de-identified data (which is not personal information) for any purpose;
- Enforce our Terms, protect our rights, and comply with law.
3. When we share information
- Independent professionals: when you submit a quote request, you direct and authorize us to share it with up to 3 professionals (directly or through matching partners) so they can contact you about your project — that is the entire purpose of the form. Once shared, those professionals process your information under their own policies; Rafter is not responsible for their use of it.
- Service providers: hosting, database, email, analytics, and security vendors processing data on our behalf.
- Advertising partners: once advertising is live, ad partners may set cookies to measure and (with your consent) personalize ads, under their own policies.
- Business transfers: in connection with any merger, acquisition, financing, reorganization, or sale of assets, information may be transferred to the successor.
- Legal: where required by law or to protect Rafter, our users, or the public.
We do not sell your email address to spammers, and we never share quote requests for purposes unrelated to your request.
4. Your rights
Depending on where you live (including the EU/UK under GDPR and California under CCPA/CPRA), you may have rights to access, correct, delete, or receive a copy of your personal information; to object to or restrict certain processing; to withdraw consent; and to opt out of “sale” or “sharing” as defined by California law (quote-request matching may qualify — you can opt out by not submitting a request, or contact us). Exercise any right at hello@raftercost.com; we will verify and respond as the law requires, and we never discriminate for exercising rights. We may deny requests where the law permits.
5. Cookies & consent
Essential cookies are strictly necessary to run the Site and load regardless of choice. Non-essential cookies (analytics such as session replay, and advertising once live) load only after you choose “Accept all” in our banner; you can change your choice any time via Cookie preferences in the footer. Blocking cookies through your browser may affect functionality, and we are not responsible for any resulting degradation.
6. Retention & security
We retain information as long as reasonably needed for the purposes above and legal compliance, then delete or de-identify it. We use commercially reasonable safeguards; however, no method of transmission or storage is 100% secure, and to the fullest extent permitted by law we cannot and do not guarantee absolute security. You provide information at your own risk.
7. Third-party sites
The Site links to third-party sites and services. Their privacy practices are their own — this policy does not apply to them, and Rafter accepts no responsibility for them. Review their policies before providing information.
8. International transfers
We operate from the United States with US-based infrastructure. Using the Site from the EU/UK or elsewhere transfers your information to the US, with appropriate safeguards where required (such as standard contractual clauses with processors).
9. Children
The Site is not directed to children under 16 and we do not knowingly collect their information. If you believe a child provided data, contact us and we will delete it.
10. Changes
We may update this policy at any time; the date above reflects the latest version, and continued use after changes constitutes acceptance. Material changes will be highlighted on the Site.
11. Contact
Privacy questions or requests: hello@raftercost.com, or the contact page. For privacy requests, email from the address you used on the Site so we can verify you.
